Extraordinary Venue : Newstead Abbey
When two Worlds collide!
So this morning I dropped my lovely hubby off at Newark train station to catch a train to London to watch his beloved Chelsea play football. I decided as I had a free day to myself, I would take a trip to the "Lizian Events" Wellbeing show, as you may or may not know much of my writing and published articles and my book are in the genre of mind, body and spirit.
As I drove into the estate grounds I was blown away by it's beauty, in fact I can't believe I had never visited before. Nestled in 300 acres of parkland, Newstead Abbey is a beautiful Grade I listed priory. Full of romantic charm, and set within immaculately landscaped formal gardens.
I happened to bump into a good friend who I know through the wellbeing circuit, little did I know that he also worked with Newstead Abbey itself, I asked if they held weddings, to which I'm delighted to tell you they do.
I was lucky enough to get a bit of a private tour of some of the stunning rooms, thanks to Barrie !
As I strolled through the cloisters I felt transported back to bygone times ( almost Harry Potter like in its magic). It has the most wonderful atmosphere and energy. The little 13th- century chapel is the most beautiful sacred space in which to exchange vows, of course if you prefer a non religious ceremony, The Orangery, with its stunning views out on to the Spanish Gardens is the perfect space in which to say "I do".
After the ceremony, you and your guests can enjoy drinks and canapés in the Garden Room, which leads into the secluded French Garden. The Cannon Fort Room is a stylish room, adjacent to the West Front Suite, with views over the Upper Lake and Waterfall. Along with the Cascade Room and Courtyard, there are several ideal spots for your guests to relax with a drink during your evening reception and admire the beauty of the Abbey at sunset.
The landscaped Formal Gardens, surrounding Newstead Abbey, are the perfect escape on your wedding day. Enjoy a relaxed stroll in the beautifully presented grounds, while posing for those cherished snapshots of wedding photography. If your guest list is a little larger, Byron’s Lawn situated in the Formal Gardens is the perfect setting for a magnificent marquee, where you and your guests can enjoy your wedding breakfast and evening reception.
Of course you can visit the grounds and the house itself for a small fee, it's well worth a visit, even if you're not looking for a wedding venue!
