It may only be the onset of the summer, but looking ahead for those Autumnal couples, I couldn't resist sharing childhood sweethearts , Francesca and Mike's beautiful day. I do love the colours of Autumn, they really do make a stunning back drop to a big day.
Chatting with Francesca she tells me...
We have been together for 13 years this year (since we were 15). We have two dogs which we adore like our children and bicker sometimes like an old marry couple which is an ongoing joke now within our families.
We chose Sopley Mill because it was one of the first we looked at and after looking at so many others we couldn't stop thinking about it. It was pretty much a blank canvas but with the rustic vibe that we were looking for to suit our autumnal theme. We could also choose our own food from their list of preferred caterers along with other suppliers, ensuring we could find a menu to suit everyone's tastes.
The colours and theme went hand in hand with each other really. When we started planning I was looking at peacock feathers to use as being central to the theme, so I began by looking at teal and gold with maybe a bit of purple. However, as we started to consider a date we realised that we wanted something in October, we felt that the weather is generally quite good and we wouldn't be forking out thousands of pounds extra for choosing the summer months.
From here we decided that using pumpkins as a focus for our theme would be a great way of adding seasonal colour without going overboard and the autumnal feel the grew from there. We used autumn leaves down the aisle, pumpkins and lanterns also lined the aisle, pumpkins were then used as table centerpieces. We had the most beautiful red and orange roses, orange Cala Lillie's and berries and leaves tied in with the flowers and it was possibly one of the most commented on aspect of the wedding other than ourselves of course !
