Extraordinary Event: The Bailgate Wedding Fayre, Lincoln.
A wet and windy Sunday isn't enough to put off two intrepid wedding bloggers, no chance!
As we stepped out into the Bailgate this past Sunday, it was tipping down with rain and blowing a hooley, yet there were plenty of attendees at the numerous venues involved in The Bailgate Wedding Fayre.
Here are just a sample of the highlights:
The County Assembly rooms hosted their own event alongside, in fact it was a weekend of wedding events in Lincoln, with the Epic Centre at The Lincolnshire Showground also hosting a wedding fayre at the same time.
We started out in The County Assembly Rooms, to find and array of great suppliers. Highlights were our own favourite the Flower Barn, alongside a beautiful new wedding venue Goltho Gardens, a family run venture near Market Rasen.
Braving the inside out umbrellas and rain which was now hitting us side-wards, we made our way to the next venue The White Hart Hotel a truly stylish and contemporary setting, just a stones throw from Lincoln Cathedral and Castle, making for the picture perfect location in the heart of the Bailgate.
The Church of England had a stand here, if you're thinking of having a church wedding there's a wealth of information that can be found on their online website here in fact, there's lots of useful information for any couples planning their big day, where ever you plan to tie the knot, it's a really comprehensive resource to check out.
Next it was a short walk to The Lincoln Hotel a restored 1960’s hotel that offers guests comfortable rooms, delicious food and incredible views of Lincoln Cathedral, which means that it's ideally placed for guests wanting to explore the medieval city.
Here we were tempted with some of the best chocolate cake we've ever tasted, the baking prowess of Lily Rose Cakes & Catering and The Booth Box , a premium photobooth experience, that had a very quirky retro feel.
Then it was a quick stride over to StokesTea & Coffee's The Blue Room at The Lawn , We have to admit we didn't even know this venue existed! Here we were greeted with absolutely delicious little tasting bites thanks to Stokes.
Here we met Stephanie of Stephanie Kate Couture Bridal Design , a very talented and creative bridal designer, from Brigg, North Lincolnshire. Her range of dresses were stunning, she'd even bought along her own wedding gown which was quite literally displayed centre stage. As seen below on Stephanie's very own big day!
The sun made a very short appearance ( It snowed a little later, all seasons in one day it would seem) as we made the short hop over to Charlotte House.
Here we made our way into the bright and airy orangery, where we bumped into another of our very favourite suppliers The Chapel Hill Duo , Sarah & Jaya.
Then it was a short stride to see the fashion show in a marquee on the lawn, with designs from Sugar and Spice and Jalouise Boutique ,with musical accompaniment from Lincoln's very own answer to Gary Barlow , Dan Hadfield, who is by the way exceptionally good...... then it was time to head home for a warm cuppa ( It then started snowing!)
Of course there were lots of suppliers not covered in our blog, we'd highly recommend going along to the next Bailgate Wedding Fayre to check them out for yourself in October.
