Extraordinary Real Wedding: Owen & Olivia's Winter Wonderland at Stapleford Park

Today's blog is a very special one. Not only is it the most beautiful real wedding, it's also one very close to my heart! I'd like to take you back in time to the 29th December 2014, its was -5 degrees, a hoar frost coated the landscape, crisp snow lay on the ground and beautiful blue skies adorned the horizon.

It was a picture perfect day for a Christmas time wedding. But not just any wedding, my little brother Owen's wedding to my gorgeous sister-in-law Liv.

Liv remembers:

“We'd visited Stapleford Park in January and all the Christmas decorations were up and the fires were roaring and it just made us think a winter wedding would be so lovely. We really wanted a house party type feel and because our guests were travelling from far and wide,we needed somewhere we could take over exclusively with enough bedrooms for most people to stay over. We thought Stapleford was the perfect venue"

After trying on numerous dresses, and not quite finding "the one" Liv decided she would design her own dress with her mum's help. They came up with a beautiful vintage inspired A-line design in dark ivory, with delicate lace detail. Which was then made for her by Dawn and Maxine from Couture Bridal. She really did make the most stunning bride.

Owen’s suit was made to measure by Harold from Rose and White tailoring–the dress code for this elegant day was black tie , it was just like walking into a film set, with glitz and glamour for this truly Christmassy feel wedding.

Our dad loaned our Great grandfather's gold pocket watch to my brother to finish off the look and to include a personal heirloom into his special day.

The bridesmaids wore duck egg blue, with the flower girls; Liv's nieces in floral dresses and page boys in trousers with braces and bow ties.

The ceremony itself took place in the orangery, with the wedding breakfast in the Grand Hall. The wintry feel was enhanced huge snowflakes being projected onto the walls.

The tables were themed in a vintage style with little personal touches, lots of mementos and named the tables according to memories related to the people sat on that table. It was a good talking point for everyone! Each table had old 45's which we were asked to sign with messages for Owen and Liv .

Owen and Liv aren't really big fans of cake, so instead of the traditional wedding cake they had a "cheese cake" dressed with little wooden mice and fruit accompaniments .

Music played a big part in the day, from a pianist during the pre-wedding drinks reception, to a string quartet throughout the service, followed by a great live band and club saxophonist Ben "Jammin" sax.

For those who wanted to party into the night there was a DJ set back in the main house, where we were invited to dance until dawn at a "Pipe and slippers" party. Many literally raving on in the PJ's!

What a fairy tale day it was....... and now three years on this gorgeous two has become a three with the arrival of Enya, my niece who turned two on the 10th December.

What great memories, of an amazing day.Happy anniversary Owen and Liv! x
