If you're dreaming of a magical woodland wedding, or a rustic country theme, then look no further than award winning "The Rustic Wedding Com pay" and the creative imaginings of Lesley McCall .
Lesley tells me:
"I am a 30 year old day dreaming extraordinaire & girl boss of the award winning wedding styling business “The Rustic Wedding Company” & another little business called ‘Little Box of Flatlay” which supplies styling products to bloggers and fellow wedding industry businesses for marketing purposes.
I’m married to Gary and am a total lover of all things pretty & stylish. Oh and I’ve got a bit of an obsession with my two cats George & Oscar. Based in Leicester, The Rustic Wedding Company specialise in bespoke and creative wedding styling in the east midlands and throughout the UK.
We have a range of props for hire if you are looking to follow a DIY approach but our real passion is creating fresh new designs for our clients, putting together styling plans for full wedding styling and installing it all at their venues.
We love taking part in styled shoots and are regularly published by the likes of Rock My Wedding, Boho Weddings and local & national wedding magazines. Earlier this year we were even were asked to give styling advice as part of an expert panel to readers of Your East Midlands Magazine.
We were regionally Highly Commended at The Wedding Industry Awards 2017, were a finalist in The UK Wedding Awards this year and have most recently won the 2017 Midlands Enterprise Awards for best contemporary wedding stylist.
My wedding styling journey began in 2014 when I decided to leave my teaching career behind and pursue a more creative avenue. My then boyfriend had just proposed to me and I had got a bit of an obsession with looking at Pinterest weddings. The only thing was that the majority of the weddings at the time on Pinterest were located in America or Australia and there seemed to be no suppliers here in the East midlands that could help me create the wedding of my dreams. That is when I decided to do it all myself but unlike your average DIY wedding, I spent my entire working week creating bits and bobs for the wedding and researching how to cut wood, how to make signs, how to sew bunting etc and I created that much that I then began to sell some of my work on etsy and to family and friends.
I was invited by a local farm venue to participate in my first styled shoot in 2015 and ever since then I’ve got the bug for creating fresh and innovative designs and the business itself took off from there onward I guess.
What I most love about my business is how it allows me to be super creative on a daily basis but also how it allows me to work flexibly and fits in around my family life perfectly. I spend a lot of time researching and designing new concepts for my clients and absolutely love keeping up to date with trends in the wedding industry.
Each client to me is totally different and I really embrace that. They all have a different vision for their day and I absolutely love working closely with them to create their personalised styling plans. I do this for all of my styling clients. It is basically a full wedding plan & mood board booklet that outlines all of the styling details for the day and includes top table design, table centrepieces, cake table design, backdrops, ceremony design and any other small details such as hanging décor or lighting installations.
All of my couples receive a printed version of this booklet to keep themselves and a PDF version that they can hand around to all of their other wedding suppliers to make sure they all understand the styling vibe for the day. It works really well and is one of the perks of choosing a professional wedding stylist to style your day.
I really enjoy what I do and have loved watching the business evolve from making and selling small products and bunting in my living room to owning an award winning styling business with its own business premises, showroom and uber cool van.
